I can't even begin to tell you what the last 4 days have been like. I think I have had time to gather myself and my thoughts to put together a post that would make sense. But I can't promise anything.
I'll start from the beginning.
If you are living in the South then you know that it has been raining nonstop since last week. There is usually a break here and there but constant storms moving through. It has not been pleasant and even more so for us because we do not have the luxury of a garage.
But on Thursday, at 3:30 I noticed that there was something a little different about this particular rain storm. The rain seemed to be coming down pretty hard. I was talking on the phone to my dear friend Holly trying to get our plans squared away for the game Saturday. I interrupted to tell her something was wrong and that I needed to call her back. And this is what I found.
I AM NOT KIDDING. My car was under water. I got on the phone and called 911, my neighbor and Hubby. Oh, Hubby was in Tennessee.
I was SO freaking out.
The Volkswagon dealership told me not to crank up the car because there was probably a lot of damage.
Y'all, there was nothing I could do.
I filed a claim with my insurance company that evening. Hubby got home really late to which I was very thankful. I could not take much more by myself.
Friday morning I called the adjuster. They towed the car to the body shop and put me in a rental. Hubby had to go to away again for work and I continued on with my plans for the game. There was nothing more we could do and looking at the mess left by the water only made us more overwhelmed. So we went our seperate ways.
The day of the game was much of the same. Rain showers here and there, but nothing heavy. By the time we were ready for the game it looked as though it may clear up. OH NO! Holly and I had not sat down more than 10 minutes when we saw a black cloud slowly make its way over the stadium. We immediately put on our ponchos. The bottom fell out.
The stadium annoucer told everyone to go under the stadium because of dangerous weather in the area. And when I say everyone that's 87,451 people. By this time we were already soaking wet. The students did not leave. They stood IN THE POORING DOWN RAIN and sang songs and cheered. And you know I would have done the same thing if I were a student.
So we had a good ole time in some close quarters with complete strangers. And we were so wet that we past miserable and onto hysterical.
The game was delayed an hour. But once it began, the rain cleared out. AU pulled it out and the fans were hysterical. My feet were prunes and my clothes were still wet. It was a thiller of a game and so worth the soaking. 41-30.
War Eagle!
Now will the rain please go away?
And the collision center declared my car a total loss.
